At the Buckingham Clinic we are known not just for our dedication to our patients’ health and well being, but also for our innovative approach and relentless efforts to trial and embrace new techniques which could deliver potentially great and more effective treatments for our patients.
And as we enter Spring, we find ourselves trialling another new machine which has not yet failed to delight…. or deliver.
We are trialling a shockwave therapy machine. This tidy little machine uses shockwaves to treat chronic, painful conditions of the musculoskeletal system.
Shockwave therapy is a new, non-surgical treatment which delivers impulses of energy, targeted to specific damaged tissues, increasing blood flow within the affected area, and therefore stimulating cell regeneration and healing.
This new technology can be used to treat a wide range of conditions including tennis elbow, shin splints, shoulder injuries, chronic Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, and chronic stages of the myofascial syndrome.
Shock Wave Therapy is one of the few modalities recommended by NICE. (National Institute of Clinical Excellence).
